During the election campaign I often thought that Donald Trump did not really want to be president. It was all a big publicity stunt to promote the Trump brand that got out of hand and on November 9 he woke up as the president-elect – just as surprised as the rest of us.
Now he actually has to try and do the job! He seems to be making an attempt to “pivot” to the role of president but it is a very tough pivot. He sends nasty tweets about people who he thinks have slighted him, although much fewer than before the election – still not very presidential.
He continues to bully the media but I think he will find out that it will not work.
Richard Nixon discovered that the Washington Post reporters Woodward and Bernstein did not care that Nixon hated the press. They went about their job and discovered the Watergate scandal which resulted in Nixon’s resignation, the only US president resignation, so far.
What Trump secrets are waiting for the media to uncover? Since Trump still has not shared his tax returns there could be many secrets that Trump does not want revealed. There may be new secrets developing even now or when Trump actually becomes president and his actions as president intermingle with his personal business.
The media would love to uncover even one of those secrets.
Depending on what those secrets are and depending on how Trump performs as president the Trump brand could be even “hotter” or not.
The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.
