The Trump people and their boss are very concerned about the size of the audience at the Trump inauguration. The media reported it was smaller than others especially Obama’s in 2009.
“The largest audience to ever witness an inauguration” said Sean Spicer
Sean Spicer, the president’s press secretary attacked the media.
Mr. Spicer said that Mr. Trump had drawn “the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration,” a statement that photographs clearly show to be false. Mr. Spicer said photographs of the inaugural ceremonies were deliberately framed “to minimize the enormous support that had gathered on the National Mall,” although he provided no proof of either assertion.
“Alternative Facts” according to Kellyanne Conway
Top White House aide Kellyanne Conway told NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday that Spicer provided “alternative facts” to reporters during his press briefing on Saturday afternoon.
The interesting phrase used by Conway, “alternative facts”, means untruths or lies. She is the same Trump spokes person who told us not long ago to not listen to what Trump says but to look into his heart for what he really means. I don’t know how to do that – that is why humans developed the ability to talk so we can communicate with each other. But apparently Trump has his own form of communication and he has his own “alternative facts” that are different than the real facts the rest of us live with.
Why is Trump and his collective team so worried about the number of people who attended the inauguration anyway? There are much more important things for them to be worried about and to spend their time on.
But for Trump and his surrogates they focus on something that can be easily proven false or true and “alternative facts” is not a reality at least not a real reality. Proving if Trump had, or didn’t have, “the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration,” is not difficult, just look at the photo above and read Professor Keith Still’s assessment below.
The analysis by Keith Still, a professor at Manchester Metropolitan University in England, estimates that the crowd on the National Mall on Friday was about one-third the size of Mr. Obama’s.
Why does Trump waste time and precious credibility lying about it?
Grasping and recognizing the real facts and the real reality will be necessary for the new US president to do his job.
Imagine if Trump and his team try to explain “alternative facts” to China, Russia, Germany or the U.K. How far do you think they will get? Yep, not far and we all will suffer for it.
