Trump has an unhealthy fascination and love of Russia and Russia’s president Vladimir Putin and an equally unhealthy dislike for the most populous and richest US state, California.
As part of Super Bowl LI coverage, the president sat down for an interview with Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly. After gently questioning Trump on his “admiration” for Putin, O’Reilly pressed: “He’s a killer, though. Putin’s a killer.” Trump only shrugged: “There are a lot of killers. You think our country’s so innocent?”
Whoa! If that doesn’t disqualify Trump for the White House, what does? No, the United States is not perfect, but in terms of freedoms guaranteed, rights protected, opportunities offered, moral values and the way we treat our own citizens and other nations, Russia’s not even in the same ballpark.
And for anybody, let alone a president of the United States, to suggest otherwise is outrageous. No president has ever betrayed his own country so totally and so openly. Imagine the cries for impeachment hearings if that old “socialist” Barack Obama had said the same thing.
Another example of the Russia love,
President Trump cast doubt on whether Moscow is backing separatists engaged in the recent escalation of fighting in eastern Ukraine, appearing to side with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, who has long denied involvement in the conflict despite evidence to the contrary.
Trump lost the US popular presidential vote by close to 3 million votes, most of those non-Trump voters were from California.
Trump threatens to withhold Federal funding from California and he probably does not know that California sends more money to the US Federal Government than it receives from the Federal Government. And California is running a budget surplus now unlike the US Federal Government.
A hold on money transfer between the US and California would benefit California and hurt the US. After all California is the sixth largest economy in the world and the leader in technology, agriculture, entertainment and other areas of business.
Without California the US would be much weaker but California would likely be just fine. Donald Trump does not understand this and he is clueless about many other important matters as well. I hope the cable news talking heads can educate him quickly (remember he does not read books or other educational materials).
